Functions & Powers of State Mission Authority

  •  In pursuance of Government of India’s Resolution No. 4–7/2009/WW, dt 8th March 2010, Government has constituted the State Mission Authority vide No. SW(S)70/2010/162 dt 30 Jan 2012 .
  •  State Mission Authority is a Nodal point for carrying forward the agenda for convergence of different programmes and schemes of line departments for effective implementation.
  •  The Mission would be responsible for setting the goals and for monitoring and evaluation. The existing monitoring system in place at the State and District level would be utilised by the State Mission Authority.
  •  Ensure economic empowerment of Women through convergence of the schemes and programmes of line Departments and NGOs/SHGs.
  •  Ensure that violence against women is eliminated progressively and review the existing legislations and provisions related to Violence Against Women (VAW).
  •  Ensure social empowerment of women with emphasis on health and education.
  •  Oversee gender mainstreaming of programmes, policies, institutional arrangements and processes of participating Departments, Institutions and Organizations.
  •  Undertake awareness generation as well as advocacy activities to fuel the demand for benefits under various schemes and programmes and create, if required, structures at district, block and village levels with the involvement of village committees, dorbars for their fulfilment.
  •  Each State Mission Authority (SMA) would have a State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) to assist and liaise with the existing institutions/structures for monitoring and review of flagship programmes and other schemes of the Central Government/State Government.
  •  The State Mission Authority shall have a term of 3 (three) years with effect for the date of issue of notification.
